1. Install Python 3.8.3 - Download (even if you think you already have python3, still try the installer. The Emulator cannot use the built-in python3 in MacOS)

2. Download the emulator - Download (v0.3.1)

3. Extract the .zip file if not already done automatically

4. Right click on the .app you downloaded and select “Show Package Contents”

5. Navigate to Contents > MacOS and double click CPU_Emulator

   1. It is recommended to use the list view in Finder when working with the emulator

   2. If a security alert pops up, close it and right click on CPU_Emulator, select open, and select

   3. The blue loading screen will pop up indicating the program has started. On first run loading may take several minutes as the emulator installs different Python and NodeJS dependencies.

   4. If after several minutes the emulator does not appear, close the emulator and follow this guide

6. The main emulator window should appear after loading has finished

On MacOS you cannot start the emulator by double clicking the .app. You must view the .app’s contents and run the unix executable under Contents > MacOS.
